MEET TYANA TAVAKOl, LMFT

Helping you stop the fear of being “too much” from controlling your life.

Online Therapy for Anxiety Serving West Los Angeles and Across CA & FL

You’re here because you’re tired of feeling like there’s something wrong with you - and not knowing how to fix it yourself.

You’re good at making it seem like everything’s ok so you don’t burden anyone with your problems.

But it’s honestly been feeling heavy and lonely for awhile. Watching other people live life not as anxious or affected by things makes it even harder to admit you’ve been struggling:

  • You live in your head more than you’d like

  • Your emotions feel intense all over the place

  • It’s hard to put yourself first without feeling selfish

  • You find yourself going to AI to just validate that you’re not crazy.

Life doesn’t have to feel this confusing and exhausting. Let’s figure this out together.

Hi, I’m Tyana (she/her), a neurodivergent therapist and child of immigrants passionate about helping anxious adults get out of their heads, take things less personally, and embrace their authentic, badass selves.

A BIPOC, neurodivergent affirming therapist in West Los Angeles, CA & FL who specializes in anxiety, people pleasing, self esteem, and HSP sitting on stairs in front of a black metal gate, smiling, wearing a tan cardigan and black pants with socks.

How WE’ll get you there together

This work goes beyond just “thinking it through”.

We’ll reconnect you with your intuition, learn how to see your emotions as useful information, and start identifying what’s keeping you stuck.

We’ll focus on creating lasting change.

I’m direct, honest, and strongly supportive. If I see you holding back or avoiding something scary I know you’re ready for it, I’ll name it and be right there with you as you get out of your comfort zone. You’ll leave sessions with practical tools and skills to try in your life that will help the learnings stick.

When you show up to a session, there’s no expectation for you to have it all figured out. You don’t need an agenda each week, the “right” words to describe your experience, or to show up happy and put together. Your planning brain gets to take a break here.

We’ll build a real connection - at your pace

You can expect authenticity, genuine validation, compassion, zero judgment, and a mix of sad and laughing tears along the way.

We’ll make sense of what’s actually going on, logically and emotionally.

We’re not just going to focus on what’s been happening right now, but why you’re having these struggles in the first place.

Therapy is more than just having someone to talk to.

Why anxiety therapy actually helps you move forward

There’s so much self help out there - podcasts, self help books, social media, even AI. I get it! It can make you question why investing in therapy is even worth it when it feels like you should be able to figure this out on your own.

What’s different in therapy is that you’re no longer operating inside your own perspective.  You have someone actively paying attention to the subconscious patterns that are really hard to catch when you’re in them:

  • How you smile on the outside when you’re actually angry or sad inside

  • When you say “sorry” for things even if you did nothing wrong

  • The way you quickly move out of your body when there’s hard feelings and into your head to find a solution

These are the seemingly small moments that usually go unnoticed but are exactly where the real change happens. Because healing isn’t logical. If it were, therapy wouldn’t exist. Some of our deepest wounds happen in relationships - which is why real healing is really effective when it happens in relationships too.

Therapy is the chance to heal in relationship with someone who helps you feel seen, understood, and make the hard changes in your life.

What makes anxiety therapy here different:

  • I know what it’s like to feel frustrated when you’re the kind of person who can figure everything else out on your own - except your mental health.

  • I bring over 5 years of clinical experience working with anxiety, trauma, and self-worth across community mental health, residential treatment, and private practice settings.

There’s nothing you can say that will feel like “too much,” scare me off, or be “TMI” here.

  • As a fellow deep feeler - someone who is neurodivergent (AuDHD) and highly sensitive -  I truly  understand what it’s like to experience emotions intensely and operate in a way that feels different than what’s “normal”.

As a child of Iranian immigrants and a person of color, I’m very aware of what it’s like to grow up in a space where vulnerability, boundaries, and emotions aren’t taught or welcome.

Through my own experiences with childhood and intergenerational trauma, and years spent in the client seat, I know firsthand what it’s like to be in the client seat and heal those deeper, scarier wounds.

  • My work is shaped by hundreds of hours of training in working with stressed and burnt out nervous systems.

I use approaches like IFS (inner child work), somatic therapy, and psychodynamic therapy to create deep, large shifts that will create lasting change and move you towards your goals.

  • When I say no judgment, I actually mean no judgment. This is a neurodivergent-affirming, culturally affirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, gender-affirming, and sex-positive therapy space.

I believe real growth happens when we take into consideration all the identities that have shaped who you are and will be a large part of who you want to become.

Why clients feel understood here and actually make progress

When my clients graduate from therapy, what they share helped them the most isn’t what you might think.

It’s not just what tools they learned or techniques we tried; it’s all the ways I showed up for them they didn’t expect. They knew I genuinely cared and saw and felt that consistently:

  • When something exciting happens, I’m right there with you ready to celebrate!

  • When you’re angry or hurt, there’s no judgment or shame - we validate the feeling always

  • When you share a story, whether it’s a pet you had when you were five or an ex that hurt you, it’s locked in my memory and ready to be pulled up when helpful

  • When we assign things to try in between sessions, I don’t forget - I help keep you accountable and work through what’s getting in the way

  • If you have a psychiatrist, couples therapist, etc., I collaborate with them so we work together and support you as a team

Yes, you’re getting someone who listens and can teach you tools. But you’re also getting someone who is paying close attention, making meaningful connections, and who is fully invested in your growth.

CREDENTIALS

  • I’m trained in a variety of therapy methods, allowing me to tailor my approach to your unique goals and needs. These include:

    Internal Family Systems (IFS)

You might feel like different sides of you show up at different times - sometimes confident, sometimes self-critical, sometimes productive, and sometimes stuck doomscrolling.

In this work, we get curious about those sides - where they come from and why they show up - so they stop feeling like they’re fighting each other.

As we do that, we help those younger parts of you realize you’re safe now, so you can let go of old patterns that don’t fit how you want to be showing up in your life anymore.

    Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)

TRM is a somatic therapy (meaning we work with the emotions and sensations in your body, not just your thoughts) that helps bring healing to your nervous system.

We’ll build awareness of what’s showing up both physically and emotionally, notice the patterns that point to what’s been keeping you stuck, and introduce real time tools you can use in moments of overwhelm.

From there, we gently help your body release the heaviness and tension it’s been holding onto at a pace that feels manageable for you.

    Psychodynamic Therapy

Why is it so hard to set boundaries? Why do you get so stressed about the “perfect” way to send a text? Why does crying sometimes feel embarrassing?

In this work, we delve into creating insight into how your past experiences have shaped who you are today.

Gain deeper self awareness, more consistent self-compassion, and a stronger sense of control over your actions so you can respond differently instead of feeling stuck in the same cycles.

    Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy

Whether you’re self or officially diagnosed with ADHD, autism, or both (AuDHD), therapy will work with your brain - not against it. We’ll focus on helping you understand your unique brain and sensory needs, strengthen your confidence in how you naturally operate, and build ways of navigating life that actually work for you.

Our goal isn’t to teach you how to mask better - it’s to get you to feel more confident to unmask more, even when it feels uncomfortable.

Beyond the Therapy Room

In addition to working with therapy clients, I’ve been featured as a mental health expert in publications including HuffPost, Headway, Upworthy, Prosper Health, LivingEtc, and The Wellness Society. I’ve also had the opportunity to speak for organizations, universities, and community groups on topics related to trauma, anxiety, nervous system regulation, relationships, and mental health.

Why the name “Uncovering You”?

So many clients come into therapy saying: “I want to figure out what’s wrong with me. I feel broken.

But honestly - no sugarcoating - there is nothing wrong with you.

There’s a version of you that’s remained preserved underneath all the self doubt and anxiety, underneath all that life has thrown at you and led you to live in survival mode - the real, confident, grounded you.

I chose the name Uncovering You because the work we’re going to do together is about uncovering that version of you.

To do this, we peel back the layers:

  • Messages that you’re “too much”

  • Patterns you learned to stay loved in conditional relationships

  • Ways you’ve had to protect yourself

to start uncovering who you really are.

It’s amazing how we can show up when we feel free to truly be ourselves and live life without anxiety controlling the wheel.
