Virtual Trauma Therapy across CA & FL
Does your mind feel trapped in the past? Does it feel hopeless trying to control your emotions and reactions?
There’s the you that you know you are, kind, calm, and so loving. And then, the you that rises up and hits you when you least expect it.
You get angry out of nowhere and it comes out in ways you later regret. You can get stuck in your head for hours, beating yourself up over something you said or did, any little mistake. You notice a mind body disconnect, experiencing periods of numbness or just having a hard time pausing to notice how you actually feel throughout the day.
It just all feels so deeply a part of your personality, you’re scared it’s something you can’t change. Even though you feel like what happened was so long ago, you can’t shake the feeling that something from that time is still getting in the way of living a life you love.
You don’t have to live like this forever. Finding happiness with yourself and your life is possible with virtual trauma therapy in CA or FL; we’ll put a grounded, living in the present version of you back in the driver’s seat instead of the survival parts of you that still haven’t figured out that you’re not in danger anymore.
The effects of complex trauma (or complex PTSD) can feel so entrenched that it’s hard to remember there’s a part of you stronger than your triggers. While trauma is a part of your story, it’s more than possible to reduce its impact on your life. Together, we can make that shift as you work towards trauma recovery.
With the support of a trauma therapist, you no longer have to face the confusion and frustration of trauma alone. You can regain control of your life, boost your self-esteem and assertiveness, and improve your ability to manage stress and discomfort through mind body healing. A life and version of yourself you’re proud of and love is not only possible, it’s within reach. Together, we won’t let trauma define your future.
Together, we’ll focus on:
Linking your past to how it affects your present
Increasing your ability to be in the moment instead of your head through trauma therapy interventions
Learning coping skills to feel more confident handling stressful situations and setting boundaries
Helping you feel secure in your relationships
Building your connection back with your intuition so you can make decisions from your inner self instead of your survival responses through mind body healing

More than half of adults in the U.S. have experienced some version of trauma in their lives.
If you feel your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors feel out of control, misaligned with your values and how you’d want to show up, and you notice more often you feel distressed than content, there’s a chance trauma could still be impacting you today.
For more details on identifying potential past traumas and how they could be showing up for you, I’ve detailed this information out in an article you can read here.

Complex trauma / complex PTSD is when you’ve experienced something that put your body in survival mode for a long period of time. This includes a long-term abusive workplace, bad relationship, difficult childhood, bullying in school, and much more which can lead to anxiety and a mind body disconnect.
Complex PTSD is different than PTSD in that PTSD is a singular instance of a trauma (e.g., natural disaster, car accident) rather than multiple events over time.
For more information on working with a complex PTSD therapist in California, you can read an article I published with The Wellness Society defining C-PTSD by clicking here.

Trauma informed therapy and therapy for childhood trauma mean having a trauma informed therapist treating you in the room like your reactions and feelings are valid and come from a deep, painful place. We don’t judge what’s going on, we just get curious, treat the sensitive and painful areas with compassion, and work at a pace that works for you. Trauma informed therapy involves being mindful of your triggers and prioritize grounding, mind body healing, and practicing regulation.

Our traumas do not define us, but they are a part of us. Awareness of how our trauma is still impacting us in our present day adulthood is necessary for change. The more we build our self-insight with a trauma therapist so we can identify when behaviors or feelings are trauma reactions, instead of who we are at our core, the more we can make adjustments to live a life aligned with our values.

When our bodies are in survival mode, energy is prioritized to the parts of the body that will help you survive. This prioritization does not include the part of the brain that stores long term memory. Often, your body will hold the trauma, but your explicit memory will not, leading to a mind body disconnect.
Remembering is not necessary for therapy!
While linking the past to the present can be helpful to build insight, we are also able to use how your body is reacting, even without an explicit memory, in order to process your trauma and promote complex PTSD healing.
