The Rise of Online Therapy in Los Angeles
I’m a COVID born therapist, becoming a trauma informed therapist at the start of the pandemic. The majority of my years as a complex PTSD therapist in California has been working with clients virtually, each of us with our favorite mug of tea in hand, no pressure to dress up for the outside world.
As the pandemic ended, the switch to online therapy has continued. Through the years of holding space for clients’ pain and tears, mixed with laughing together at the absurdity of the world and life, I’ve witnessed how amazing and beneficial virtual trauma therapy can be for clients. Healing really can happen anywhere! No commute required on the path to healing.
Benefits of Online Therapy vs. Traditional Therapy
Comfort & Emotional Safety
Healing from complex trauma takes place best in an environment where your nervous system feels safe. Online sessions allow you to connect from your own home or chosen space, somewhere you feel the most grounded and at ease.
Access from Anywhere in California
Whether you're in traffic filled Los Angeles, or a town with not a lot of therapist options, you can access trauma informed therapy and find a high quality therapist without having to settle due to limited options. No commuting, parking, or rushing to sessions through traffic. All you need is a device and internet connection!
Flexible, Consistent Care
Virtual therapy offers more flexibility for those that are extra busy and don’t have extra time to drive to and from therapy — helping you stay consistent even with work, parenting, or fluctuating energy levels. This flexibility helps reduce the need for cancelations due to a busy schedule, thus improving your rate of healing and keeping you on track to meet your goals.
Private & Confidential
Sessions are conducted using HIPAA-compliant video platforms, ensuring your privacy is protected. You can attend complex PTSD therapy in California from a space that feels private and safe, without needing to sit in a waiting room.
Less Sensory Overload
For those who are affected by loud sounds, smells, or just by absorbing the emotions or stressors of those around them, it can help to not have to leave the comfort of your home in order to do therapy. By having control of your sensory environment, you can stay more regulated and engaged before, during, and after sessions.
Online Therapy FAQs
-
Online therapy has been shown through numerous research studies to be just as effective as in person therapy. It is especially helpful for people who need a contained, grounded space they are already familiar with.
Through my own experience working with clients, I often see people with the same struggles progress at the same speed and effectiveness regardless of if they are online or in person.
-
Online therapy is great for someone who:
Wants to work on themselves and their healing from a location of their own choosing
Does not feel like they are at high risk for self-harm or suicide
Feels comfortable using technology and has a device (phone, tablet, laptop) they can use for sessions
Has access to reliable internet or phone service
Knows a private space they can go to during therapy where they would feel comfortable speaking about what’s going on for them
-
Absolutely! The best part of online therapy is you can see me wherever you are in California. The caveat is that if you are outside of California, even temporarily, we will not be able to have sessions while you are out of state.
For clients living internationally, this depends on the country you are in and their regulations around therapy. If this is you, reach out to see if we can work together based on your international location.

The human connection that’s central to therapy is so important, and for many clients still comes through — even on a screen. That’s why as part of the consultation, we make sure that my style and vibe works for you before we even go through with the first session.
